Florida Driver’s License Changes
Requirements for Issuance of Driver’s License in effect as of
January 1, 2010
As of January 1, 2010 there are new changes in
the issuance and renewal of Florida driver’s licenses. For
Non-United State Citizen, there are three main requirements to
obtain: (Additional requirements depend on the pending process and

of documents)
Proof of Identity and Immigration
(Immigrant or Non-immigrant Status)

Valid Alien registration card, I-551(green
Card) or I-551 stamp in the passport or on I-94
-
Valid Passport with one of the following:
-
Valid work Permit authorization Card
-
Unexpired I-94 (original I-94 or
extension with change of status, including student I-20 or
-
I-130 or I-140 Receipts together with
I-485 Receipt (only if receipt are less than 3 years old)
and I-94
-
I-130 or I-140 Receipt (only if the
petition was filed while the person was in lawful status and
the receipt are less than 3 years old) or
-
I-589 Receipt or Pending asylums in Court
with all court documents, and proof of filing or
-
Order from the immigration Judge or USCIS
(I-797) granting asylum, refugee status or Cancellation of
removal
For cases 2-6, above, DMV will decide on a
case by case basis. Your Passport, I-94, receipts and Social
Security Card must all show the same complete legal name.
Proof of residence
-
Deed, mortgage, monthly mortgage statement,
mortgage payment booklet or residential rental/lease agreement
-
Florida Voter Registration Card
-
Florida Vehicle Registration or title
-
Florida Boat Registration or title (if living
on a boat/houseboat)
-
As statement from a parent, step-parent or
legal guardian of an applicant. The parent or guardian must
reside at the same residence address, accompany the applicant
and present “Proof of Residence Address”

A utility hook up or work order dated within
60 days of the application
-
Automobile Payment Booklet
-
Selective Service Card
-
Medical or Health Card with address listed
-
Current Homeowner’s insurance policy or bill
-
Current automobile insurance policy or bill
-
Educational institution transcript forms for
the current school year
-
Unexpired professional license issued by a
government agency in the U.S.
-
W-2 Form or 1099 form
-
Form DS2019 Certificate of Eligibility for
Exchange Visitor (J-1) Status
-
A letter from a homeless shelter,
transitional service provider, or half-way house verifying that
the customer resides at the shelter address
-
Utility bills, not more than two months old
-
Mail from financial institutions: including
checking, savings, or investment account statements, not more
than two months old
-
Mail From Federal, Sate, County or City
Government agencies ( Including Cities and County agencies)
Proof of social security number (make
sure the name is exactly the same as on the ID).

Pay Check

SSA-1099
